Spicy Pineapple Jalapeno Infused Water

Recipe for one 77.75    Bormioli Rocco Frigoverre Glass Pitcher:

  • One half of a small to medium pineapple, including core, or about 5 slices
  • 3 .25″ slices of a jalapeno pepper (or any small hot pepper)
  • Optional: lemon slices

Infuse at room temperature for 2-4 hours. Infusing for longer periods will increase the  Enjoy the water at room temperature or with a couple of ice cubes.

Grapefruit Rosemary Infused Water

Recipe for 32 oz Ball jar and a 32 oz Infuser Water bottle::

    • 1 grapefruit
    • 1 sprig of fresh rosemary

Cut the rind away from the grapefruit and cut the fruit into slices. Fill the Ball jar or infuser bottle with water, than lower the fruit into the water (instead of pouring water over the fruit). Use half of the grapefruit and half of the rosemary per container. Infuse for 2 hours at room temperature and up to 24 hours in your refrigerator

These simple ingredients make this infused water easy to make and affordable. Cut the ends off of the grapefruit, than use a sharp, small knife to cut away the rind (which can make your infused water taste very bitter). I highly recommend the Wustoff Santoko Knife for manipulating and slicing fruit.

You do not need to achieve perfection when removing the rind. If some of the rind stays on the fruit, that is okay. And if you cut too much of the fruit off with the rind, simply squeeze the juice from the cut pieces into your water container.

After removing the rind, cut the grapefruit into horizontal slices. Cutting the grapefruit against the grain will allow for more juices to seep out.

You can infuse this water for up to 24 hours, though you may want to remove the rosemary after 4 or more hours so that it does not dominate the flavor.

Grape Strawberry Lime Infused Water

Recipe for a 93-oz fruit infusion pitcher:

  • 20 small grapes, halved
  • 1 organic lime, peeled and sliced
  • 2 organic strawberries, sliced

Place the fruit in an infusion pitcher core, lower it into a pitcher of water, and infuse for up to 8 hours at room temperature and up to 24 hours in the fridge.

Cut the grapes in half so that they can release their flavor. Slice the strawberries into 1/4″ slices.

Peel the lime rind off of the lime by cutting the ends of the lime off, then guiding your knife around the edge of the lime to remove the peel.

Cut the lime into slices, then cut those slices in half.

It’s important to remove the lime peel for longer infusions because the peel will make your water very bitter. Don’t worry, cutting away the peel is easy and you will get better every time. If you accidentally cut too much off, simply squeeze the juice into your pitcher so that nothing is wasted.

Next, stack your ingredients into the pitcher core.

You can infuse this water for a long time  – but only if you cut the peel off of the lime. After infusing for 24 hours, remove the fruit  and enjoy the remaining water for up to 3 days.

Watermelon Infused Water

Recipe for an 32-oz Infusion Water Bottle: 1″ wide spear of fresh watermelon (or enough to fill your infusion chamber)

One small watermelon should be enough to make a week’s worth of infused waters. Cut slices as you need them instead of all at once.

Fill your water bottle with cold water, then lower the fruit infuser into the bottle. Pouring water directly onto the watermelon can cause it to break into pieces.

Watermelon is one of the few fruits you can enjoy after it has been infused. After drinking, you can snack on the infused watermelon to quench your thirst and replenish yourself with a few calories.

Orange pineapple Infused Water

Recipe for a 2-gallon dispenser: 1/2 pineapple, quartered + 1 orange, sliced with peel on. Fill with ice and water. For the best flavor, infuse for 2 hours before serving. And when the mixture runs down to the halfway point of the dispenser, simply fill with more ice and water. You can infuse up to three times.

Tip: be sure to layer your pineapple on the bottom of the dispenser. Pineapple is more solid than sliced orange, and will not clog your dispenser for this reason.

If you are making this infused water in a smaller container such as a water bottle, try using one pineapple spear + 1 thick orange slice, cut in half.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup dried or fresh sliced strawberries
  • Rind of one tangerine- try to get little to none of the white pith-
  • Water

Get started:

There are two ways to make Tangerine and Strawberry Infused Water: 1) put it all in the tea pot, or 2) make individual cups. It all depends on your willingness to wash your tea pot. I have also included a cold version for this delicious drink.

Tea pot instructions– Place the tangerine rind and strawberries into a teapot, cover with water and bring to a boil. To serve cover the nose of your tea pot with a coffee filter or use a fine mesh sieve over your tea cup to avoid strawberry pulp.

Individual tea cups– Boil water, add in 1/4 of the rind and a tablespoon of dried strawberries. Allow the strawberries to plump up and just as they start to fall apart (about 3 minutes) use a fork to scoop them out and discard. Leave the rind in the tea cup for both added flavor and beauty.

Cold Tangerine and Strawberry Infused Water – Boil 3 cups (or as much as your tea pot will hold) of water making the “tea pot instructions” let it cool with the fruit left in then strain into a 1 liter jug discarding the strawberries. Top with water until it is full, pluck out the tangerine rind, rinse and add to jug then place in the fridge to cool. Serve over ice and drink up. If you want to do a bigger jug just double the recipe.

Top w/ 1.5 cups ice and then fill up with water and let sit 3 hours in fridge before drinking. The key here is to slice your fruit as thinly as you can so that you get the most flavor. If you want sweeter add an apple and another orange.

This will last in the fridge for 24-48 hours.

  • After Workout Watermelon and Rosemary Power Water

Watermelon and Rosemary Power Water helps hydrate you and maintains your fat burning after a workout.

Makes one big pitcher, refill 3-5 times-

  • 2 cups Chopped Watermelon
  • 2 large Sprigs of Rosemary

In a large pitcher drop in the watermelon and rosemary, cover with ice and then water. Place in fridge for 10 minutes before serving. Once the water is 1/2 way gone refill with cold water, keep doing that 3-5 times before replacing watermelon and rosemary.

Makes 1 one liter  water bottle, refill 3-5 times-

  • 1/4 cup Thinly sliced Watermelon
  • 1 small Sprig of Rosemary

If the water bottle is full dump some out to make room for the watermelon, if empty put the watermelon and rosemary in first and then add water. Shove the watermelon and rosemary into your water bottle put in fridge for 10 minutes, that’s it! Refill when it gets 1/2 way down with cold water, do that 3-5 times before adding more watermelon and rosemary.

*A note on the water bottle method, you will not be able  to get the watermelon and rosemary out so don’t use something you will want to keep unless it has a wide mouth.

  • Cooling Peach Mint Water

This combo is light and refreshing, if you prefer it sweeter drop a couple of peach slices into your cup it really intensifies the peach flavor, you can also add a splash of vanilla to add sweetness to the pitcher as well.

Makes 1 pitcher refill up to 8 times

  • 1 long sprig of Mint, or a handful of leaves you can tie together with kitchen twine
  • 10 frozen Peach Slices, plus more to garnish (optional)
  • Water and Ice

I found that leaving the mint leaves on the sprig was easier and I got less debris in my drink that way too.  Drop peaches in your pitcher, then the mint, top with ice and water and place in fridge for 4 hours or overnight. Serve in a wine glass*, garnish with a frozen peach slice (also acts as an ice cube) you can refill the pitcher up to 8 times, or until the flavor dissipates.

* I use this trick often, I place my water in a pretty wine glass or in my fancy Stella glass. If you try this you might just trick yourself into thinking you are indulging.

  • Honeydew Mojito Workout Water

Makes one 1 liter water bottle

  • 4 mint leaves
  • ½ cup honeydew melon, sliced into sticks
  • ½ lime, thinly sliced into rings or sticks

If the bottle is full, pour out some water to make room for the fruit. If empty, add the fruit first. Add the mint, squeezing the leaves slightly to release the oils. Next, add the melon chunks. Curl up lime rings to fit into the mouth of the bottle. Top with water and place in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Refill with water when the mixture is halfway consumed. You can refill the bottle 3-5 times before replacing fruit.

*A note on the water bottle method: You may not be able to get the ingredients out if you use a traditional water bottle. For re-use, I recommend using a water bottle with a wide mouth for easier extraction of ingredients.

  • Day Spa Pineapple, Grapefruit and Apple Water

Makes 1 big pitcher, you can re-fill 3-5 times.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Grapefruit
  • 1/2 Apple
  • 1/2 of a Pineapple- fresh
  • Ice and Water- Fizzy water is good too, just skip the ice.

Get started:

Cut the Grapefruit into medium sized slices, same with the apple and add into a pretty juice pitcher. Cut the pineapple into medium to thin slices, ideally you want to try and get all the slices about the same size. Add the pineapple squeezing a little if you want it sweeter, then top with 2 cups ice, top that with water and place in the fridge for 4 hours. Once you have enjoyed 1/2 of your pitcher of water re-fill it and you can repeat this as long as the flavor stays.
