The CW renewed the series for a second season, which is scheduled to debut on October 11, 2017. In September 2017, a spin-offseries, titled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, was revealed to be in development.
The show features an ensemble cast based on the characters of Archie Comics, with KJ Apa in the role of Archie Andrews; Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, his next door neighbor who has a crush on him; Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, his new love interest; and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, his ex-best friend and the narrator of the show. The show also features Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, the lead singer of the Pussycats, and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, the twin sister of Jason Blossom, who is at the center of the series’ mystery. Other characters in the show include Fred Andrews, Alice Cooper and Hermione Lodge, the parents of Archie, Betty, and Veronica respectively.
As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom — and nothing feels the same… Archie Andrews is still the all-American teen, but the summer’s events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music — not follow in his dad’s footsteps — despite the sudden end of his forbidden relationship with Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy. Which means Archie doesn’t have anyone who will mentor him — certainly not singer Josie McCoy, who is only focused on her band, the soon-to-be-world-famous Pussycats. It’s all weighing heavily on Archie’s mind — as is his fractured friendship with budding writer and fellow classmate Jughead Jones. Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooper is anxious to see her crush Archie after being away all summer, but she’s not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. When a new student, Veronica Lodge, arrives in town from New York with her mother Hermione, there’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie, even though Veronica doesn’t want to risk her new friendship with Betty by making a play for Archie. And then there’s Cheryl Blossom… Riverdale’s Queen Bee is happy to stir up trouble amongst Archie, Betty, and Veronica, but Cheryl is keeping secrets of her own. Forsythe Pendleton “FP” Jones II was a recurring character during Season 1of Riverdale. He has since been promoted to series regular for Season 2.He is portrayed by Skeet Ulrich.
FP is the leader of the Southside Serpents and the father of Jughead and Jellybean Jones. During the first season, FP almost got framed for the murder of Jason Blossom after the cops found a gun in FP’s trailer. It was later revealed that Cliff Blossom was the one who murdered his own son in cold blood, having FP to take the fall for him so he could protect his son Jughead. Even though FP was found innocent he was still an accomplice and is still behind bars until his court trial. Due to FP’s loyalty of protecting the Southside Serpents and not outing anyone as he told the sheriff that he’s no snitch. Jughead was later rewarded as a member into the Southside Serpents due to his father’s loyalty towards them.

Hiram Lodge is an upcoming main character and an antagonist set to appear in the second season of Riverdale. He is also the unseen, hidden secondary antagonist of the first season.He is portrayed by Mark Consuelos.
Hiram is the husband of Hermione, and the father of Veronica Lodge. He is a powerful businessman and the CEO/President of Lodge Industries. Prior to the start of the series, he was incarcerated at Yonkers Penitentiary and is currently awaiting trial for multiple counts of embezzlement and fraud. Despite his imprisonment, Hiram still runs his business and criminal empire from behind bars. He is soon to be released from prison, and will be taking up residence in Riverdale.
He was also business partners with Manfred Muggs until he no longer needed him, resulting in Manfred and his family almost losing everything including their house. As a result of their partnership Manfred was hospitalized.

Riverdale Casts Hart Denton to Play Betty’s Long-Lost Brother Chic
the role of Chic will be recurring in Season 2; Denton will make his Riverdale debut midway through the upcoming season, which debuts next Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW. We first learned about Chic in last season’s finale, when Betty’s mom Alice confessed that she got pregnant in high school and gave the baby — who grew up to be Chic — up for adoption.
