Porunga  is the wish-granting dragon from Planet Namek . His name in Namekian language translates to “Dragon of Dreams” or “Dragon of Law”. In the anime, Dende refers to Porunga as the “Dragon of Love”, “God of Dreams”, or even “Granter of Dreams” in Dragon Ball Z Kai.

Porunga is much more brutal-looking than Shenron, with a heavily muscled upper body (large pectoral muscles, shoulders, arms, and a well defined four pack). Instead of looking snake-like in appearance, like Shenron does, Porunga appears to be more alligator-like, bearing great resemblance to the Naga, a group of serpent deities in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. He has a long green slithery tailinstead of legs. He also has a large fin down the center of his back, and large spikes on his shoulders and head, as well as two antennae on his forehead similar to the Namekian people.

Like Shenron, Porunga is good-hearted, but being that he is a dragon, he has a temper and sometimes comes off as impatient. He is shown to have a sense of humor, as when he was kept waiting by Krillin, Gohan, and Dende, who had summoned him on Namek, he told them if they couldn’t think of what to wish for, “just wish for nothing three times so I can go.

Shenron (シェンロン Shenron, Japanese pronunciation of “Shénlóng”, lit. “Divine Dragon” or “God Dragon”) is a magical dragon . Related image

Shenron is shown with brown antlers, sharp teeth, green scaly skin, red eyes, four toes on each foot, a long serpentine body (his tail takes up three-fourths of his length), long flowing whiskers, a long snout, crescent-shaped nostrils, and flowing green hair on his cheeks. He is an Eastern dragon, whose kind are benevolent and sacred in Oriental mythologies. Unlike the Western dragons, which have large dorsal foldable wings on their backs, he has none.

His kind are good at heart, but as a strong dragon, Shenron has an aggressive temper, and is impatient sometimes (for some reason more so than Porunga, the Namekian dragon). Shenron is shown to have a temper, and he once threatened to kill a summoner if they do not make their wish soon (although he has only actually attempted to attack someone in Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might, where Gohan’s friendly dragon Icarus tries to attack Shenron out of fear due to being unaware Shenron meant them no harm). Like most mortals and deities, Shenron is terrified and fearfully respectful towards Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7 to the point he scattered the Dragon Balls immediately after informing Goku how to perform the ritual to create a Super Saiyan God and also showed fear when he was summoned to learn more about the Super Dragon Balls, even technically “granting” Beerus’ wish for him to leave after he was unable to tell them anything more than what he knew.

Bardock Meets His son  Goku

Goku

Goku  born Kakarot (カカロット Kakarotto), is a male Saiyan . Goku is a Saiyanoriginally sent to Earth as an infant with the mission to destroy its people. However, an accident alters his memory, allowing him to grow up to become Earth’s greatest defender and the informal leader of the Dragon Team. He constantly strives and trains to be the greatest warrior possible, which has kept the Earth and the universe safe from destruction many times

Son-goku

Goku as a child, an adult, Super Saiyan, and Super Saiyan 3

Goku is the spitting-image of his father, Bardock, possessing the same spiky black hairstyle, dark-colored eyes, and facial features. However, he has softer eyes, a kind demeanor, and a lighter-pale skin complexion from his mother, Gine. Goku’s most distinguishing physical characteristic is his hair. He has 3 bangs hanging to the right of his forehead and 2 bangs hanging to the left. His hair also stands up in the front with 4 spikes and 3 bangs in the back (later in the anime his front spikes become 5 and his back spikes become 4). Goku was born with the signature tail of the Universe 7 Saiyans, which was long and prehensile with brown fur. While occasionally having it removed and later regrew it, by his late-teens, it was permanently removed by Kami (to prevent his Great Apetransformation so Kami could safely bring back the moon).

Goku was named Kakarot at birth and sent from Planet Vegeta to Earth. On the day of his birth, his father, Bardock, attempted to rebel against Frieza to seek revenge for his murdered comrades at the hands of Frieza’s loyal subordinates but Frieza blew up Planet Vegeta, killing Bardock and most of the Saiyan race; Goku survived as he was being sent to Earth. After crash-landing on Earth, the baby was found in the woods by an old man named Gohanand became his adopted grandson. He was then given his Earthling name, “Son Goku”. At first, Goku was extremely violent and ill-tempered, not obeying Gohan at all, but one day he fell down a deep ravine and hit his head, suffering severe head trauma that sent him into a coma and very nearly killed him and caused him to suffer long-term amnesia. After he woke up, he had lost all of his Saiyan aggression due to not remembering his mission, becoming a kind and mild-mannered young boy.His Grandpa Gohan taught him martial arts and told him about such things as the city and people, as they lived in a very remote place in Mount Paozu, with no communication with other people.

Gohan one day discovered Goku’s full moon transformation, and thus told him to never look at the full moon. However, one night Goku did, and he transformed into a Great Ape, causing him to unknowingly kill Gohan. After his grandpa’s death, Goku stayed at his home, carrying out his daily life of survival. From a young age, Goku developed the impression that his birth parents abandoned him in the mountains as a baby, leaving him for Grandpa Gohan to discover.

Kakarot was born on Planet Vegeta three years before its destruction. Kakarot had been inside his incubation chamber for three years since his birth when his father Bardock and his mother Gine decide to release him. Bardock makes the decision to send Kakarot away to Earth in an Attack Ball since he is worried about Frieza’s ambitions. Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta a month after Kakarot has been sent away.

Infant Goku being sent to Earth

Kakarot was born sometime in Age 737 on Planet Vegeta, during a time of great turmoil.[3]Following a Saiyan custom, Kakarot was sent as a baby to planet Earth, in order to destroy its inhabitants and clear the planet for its future sale. As Earth’s inhabitants were thought to be weak, a baby Saiyan was considered enough for the task, especially after transforming into a Great Ape by Earth’s full moon. Kakarot’s father, a low-class Saiyan warrior named Bardock, disappeared in his home planet’s destruction at the hands of Frieza shortly after Goku’s departure to Earth.

Goku is in a suit to help Chi-Chi with getting Gohan in a school, when he is warned by King Kai about the appearance of the Legendary Super Saiyan. Goku teleports around the galaxy trying to focus on the Legendary Super Saiyan’s ki, eventually arriving to New Planet Vegeta. There Goku met several of his friends, including Vegeta, who had been brought there by a Saiyan called Paragus who wanted Vegeta to be the king of a new Saiyan planet. However, they eventually discover that Paragus’ son, Broly, is in fact the Legendary Super Saiyan. Broly breaks free of his father’s control and attacks Goku and the Z Fighters, who are no match for him. It is revealed that an asteroid was approaching the planet, and that Paragus had tricked Vegeta to kill him, in order to avenge his grudge against Vegeta’s father. All the beaten fighters give their energy to Goku, who is able to punch and defeat Broly. Goku escapes with his friends using Instant Transmission, just before the asteroid destroys the planet.

Abilities

Rock, Scissors ‘N’ Paper

Janken scissors

Goku attacking Roshi with Rock, Scissors ‘N’ Paper

A technique taught to Goku by Grandpa Gohan which employs one of three attack styles; either a closed-fist assault, a two-finger jabbing assault, or an open-palm thrust assault. It was Goku’s signature attack early on during his childhood, soon afterwards being replaced with the Kamehameha.

Kamehameha
Kamehameha

Goku fires a Kamehameha

Goku’s signature move since obtaining it. It unleashes a powerful and long-stretching blue wave of energy from his cupped hands. Goku first learns the move as a kid after witnessingMaster Roshi using it. It can be charged to compete with practically any enemy attack. Since mastering this technique, Goku has continued to improve on it and develop new variations of it.

Kaio-ken

Goku-Kaio-ken

Goku using the Kaio-ken

Goku learns this technique after dying against Raditz while training under King Kai. While using it and any of its multipliers, Goku’s various capacities and techniques are all proportionally increased. However, the strain of using too high a multiplier and/or for too long can be dangerous and greatly damage his body. As such, he ceased using it after his gaining Super Saiyan. While he can combine the two powers, Goku never tried this while alive as doing so could lead to near-certain death. Later however, with his Super Saiyan Blue, taking advantage of his divine form’s superior energy control and more naturally calm-minded nature, he was able to use the new version of the technique and more regularly.

Spirit Bomb
Spiritbombnamek

Goku preparing a Spirit Bomb while battling Frieza

Easily Goku’s most powerful techniques and arguably the strongest in the series, it allows Goku to channel ki from all sources of life that he can detect and focus it all into a single energy ball. It was taught to him by King Kai during his training for the upcoming battle against Vegeta and Nappa. Over time, Goku continually learned to expand the range of which he could gather energy, thereby increasing both the size and power of the Spirit Bomb. He reserves this technique as a last-ditch effort for the most powerful of foes.

Instant Transmission
GokuITCellSaga

Goku prepares to use Instant Transmission

Goku learns this technique on the Planet Yardrat after his battle with Frieza. This technique allows him to teleport to any location so long as he can find an energy source to home onto. However, it also greatly extends his ability to sense energy. Noticeably in Yo Son Goku, he seemingly improved on the technique as transports to the radish field without sensing anyone, possibly because he had accurate enough knowledge of where it is.

Dragon Fist

DragonballGT-Episode047 209

Goku firing a Dragon Fist

A technique that generates a giant gold serpentine-dragon from Goku’s charging body and extended fist that will attack and ensnare the target before erupting in a large exploding. While never seen in the original manga, Goku uses this technique in the Wrath of the Dragon movie to defeat Hirudegarn. He also uses this in Dragon Ball GT.

Evil Containment Wave
Goku Mafuba

Goku using the Evil Containment Wave on Future Zamasu

An energy technique learned from Master Roshi to battle Goku Black and Future Zamasu. It binds a target in a swirling stream of green energy before being guided into a container. It also requires a special sealing tag to properly complete the sealing. While normally life-threatening to use, Goku’s immense power lets him use this multiple times without even remotely exhausting any of his strength. The benefit of the technique is to defeat enemies they cannot or will not kill. In the anime Goku never got the chance to use this technique against Future Zamasu but managed to use it in the manga. However, due to collecting the wrong tag from Roshi, Future Zamasu escaped.

Hakai
Goku Hakai

Goku using Hakai

In the manga, Goku learned to perform the Hakai technique after having seen the God of Destruction Beerus use it. Due to not having the proper training nor might, Goku requires to put all of his divine ki into his hand and release it at once, making it a one-time use attack which will leave him fully drained. Goku’s usage is also not as effective as a God of Destruction’s. As a result, Goku’s usage requires more time to complete and his constant focus, enabled Fused Zamasu to use Future Mai as a shield, preventing Goku from completing the attack.

Ultra Instinct

Kefla163

Goku effortlessly dodges Kefla with Ultra Instinct

Goku began learning this from Whis. During the Tournament of Power, Goku unlocked a special state, enabling him to put to usage Whis’ teachings, but only defensively. He eventually completed this state to defend and attack simultaneously with optimum efficiency. With this, Goku’s physical and mental parameters are vastly augmented, providing him with not only equally increased combat performance, but also gives him access to the Ultra Instinct ability, allowing him to instinctively dodge and attack any nearby threat in the most effective way possible. Goku usage of this ability is only unlocked subconsciously during dire situations.

Great Ape
Oozaru Goku

Goku as a Great Ape

Like all Saiyans, Goku can transform into a Great Ape when absorbing enough blutz waves, usually from looking at a full moon, while still having his tail, though not of his choosing. As a Great Ape, Goku’s dormant Saiyan traits re-emerge and he becomes feral and violent. In this state, his power and senses increases 10 fold and is able to generate powerful mouth blasts. Originally, because his tail was removed permanently Kami when restoring the moon, Goku lost access completely to this form. However, in Dragon Ball GT, thanks to Old Kai’s aid, Goku regained his tail. Also, he became able to use any planetary surface to focus the blutz wave to transform.

Unlock Potential

Goku with his Unlocked Potential

After drinking the Ultra Divine Water and surviving its painful side-effects, Goku’s true potential was released, apparently in the form of accessing Great Ape in his base form. This was seen by his natural aura manifesting as an image of a Great Ape surrounding him, signifying Goku’s hidden power having been released.[176] The power boost not only enabled him to fight on par with King Piccolo in his prime, who previously decimated Goku in his frailer elderly state, but it also heighted Goku’s senses and instincts, able to detectthe location of people’s ki.

Kaio-ken
GokuKaio-KenVsVegetaNV-0

Goku using Kaio-ken

While usually considered a power boosting technique, several video games treat this as a transformation. With this powerup, Goku is surrounded by a red aura. Its maximum multiplier is x20 in the anime/manga, though in the movie Lord Slug he briefly manages to use a x100 boost.

Pseudo Super Saiyan
Capture9-0

Goku as a Pseudo Super Saiyan

During the movie Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, Goku achieves this form in an attempt to defeat Lord Slug. Through rage of being beat down, Goku unleashed a huge amount of aura and became a false-like Super Saiyan, which gave him more speed and strength for a few seconds enough to thrash Lord Slug. In this form, he looks similar to his Kaio-ken form, but he becomes bulkier, except his eyes are whited out like Broly‘s in his Legendary Super Saiyan form, and his hair stands up and gains a red tint.

Ginyu’s body

Goku in Ginyu’s body

During the Battle on Planet Namek, the leader of the Ginyu Force, Captain Ginyu, used his Body Change technique to switch bodies with Goku. Goku was gravely injured while in Ginyu’s body due to Ginyu causing a severe wound on his own body just prior to Ginyu switching bodies. While ultimately adjusting to this body and effectively use it in battle, the said injuries and brief length of time that Goku was in Ginyu’s body made his full capabilities in this form unknown.

Super Saiyan

GokuSuperSaiyanVsAndroid19

Goku as a Super Saiyan

This form multiples Goku’s base power 50 fold. Goku achieves this form in a rage after Frieza killed Krillin. In this form, Goku’s muscle and height slight increase and his skin turns lighter. His eyes become noticeably sterner and more defined with green eyes. His hair becomes blond and stands with no lose strands. His power also generates yellow aura. In the anime, when unleashing the full intensity of his power, Goku’s aura also produces some slight electrical sparks. Goku’s demeanor is greatly affected by this form, making him more aggressive and irritable. In the anime, Goku learned to access this form’s raw might without actually transforming to conserve ki. After his fight with the God of DestructionBeerus, Goku realizes that fully mastering this form would eventually raise his level more than his higher Super Saiyan forms, and sap less strength and ki

Super Saiyan Second Grade
SuperSaiyanBulkedGokuPanning1-1-

Goku as a Super Saiyan Second Grade

After realizing that the androids’ power exceeds a Super Saiyan, Goku entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to surpass the basic Super Saiyan form. Ultimately, Goku unlocked this form after weeks of training. However, Goku realized that this form spends too much ki to be maintained. Rather than attempting the more arduous and time-consuming task of refining this form, Goku came to the conclusion that that the basic Super Saiyan form is better suited for combat, making a plan to master it and abandon this form completely. As a result of this and discovering more powerful forms, this form is never used again.

Super Saiyan Third Grade

Dai san 222

Goku as a Super Saiyan Third Grade

Along with Second Grade, Goku achieves this form in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. While vastly stronger than Second Grade, the power output is too intense, causing Goku’s muscles to become engorged from the struggle of maintaining this unsteady power boost. This instability drained his ki too fast to be of use for long. It also causes an extreme drop in his speed and agility, tiring him even more and reducing his effectiveness overall. Goku noted that while much stronger than Semi-Perfect Cell, it meant nothing it he couldn’t actually hit his foe with it. This made this form impractical against foes of any real speed. Instead of training to overcome this problem, Goku decides that simply mastering the basic Super Saiyan, feeling that it is the best way to fight and gain power. As such a result, this form is never used again.

Super Saiyan Full Power
GokuFullPowerSuperSaiyanNV

Goku as a Super Saiyan Full Power

After realizing the weaknesses inherent to the higher Super Saiyan grades, Goku concluded that mastery over the basic Super Saiyan form would be more beneficial. He used the remainder of his time chamber training learning to maintain Super Saiyan for extended periods. Gradually, he overcame the heightened aggression and uneasiness that accompanies this form to feel as natural as his base form, reducing the energy drain to nothing and increasing his endurance to achieve a max output for this form without drawbacks even in regularly life. Ultimately, he is able to enter, maintain, and fight in this form for as long as he desires at its full potential with no lose in efficiency or performance. With this mastery, during the Tournament of Power, Goku – having gone well-beyond his limits – was able to flash between base and Super Saiyan to defeat Jiren alongside Frieza despite his battered and exhausted state.

Super Kaio-ken

Super Kaio-ken Dokkan artr

Goku using Super Saiyan Kaio-ken

Goku uses this technique while fighting in the Other World Tournament. By using the power of Kaio-ken while in his Super Saiyan form, Goku doubles his Super Saiyan capacities. Goku uses it briefly to punch Pikkon into an asteroid orbiting the Other World Stadium. Due to the strain of using the Kaio-Ken on top of Super Saiyan, even with his perfect control of the form, it was too dangerous for Goku to use it while alive as even the little buildup of emotions while transformed could prove devastating to him.

Super Saiyan 2
DBZ Movie 14 - Battle of Gods 23

Goku as a Super Saiyan 2

This form multiples Goku’s base power 100 fold. Goku achieved this form at some time after Cell’s defeat while in the Other World. In this form, Goku gains some changes; his hair grows longer and spikier, his forehead has only three bangs over it, making his hair more defined than his other previous Super Saiyan forms, along with disappearing hair strands surrounding the forehead which are exclusive to this form. His muscles also become more defined and his aura also generates electricity surrounding his body, while the aura grows markedly larger and more vibrant.

It was first briefly seen when Goku powers-up to overflow Yakon with energy, as Vegeta notes. Goku first makes full usage of this form against Majin-Vegeta. Since gaining greater forms, Goku reserves this form for opponents he takes semi-seriously, usually as a means to better gauge his opponent’s might.

In Dragon Ball Super, Goku displays full mastery of this form. In the Tournament of Power, when the eager Universe 6 Saiyan Caulifla desired to learn Super Saiyan 3, Goku insisted she was not ready for it and before mastering Super Saiyan 2. To which, Goku demonstrated such by intensifying the sheer power of this form, leaving a baffled Caulifla to wonder if this was really the same Super Saiyan 2 she was using. In this state, his aura expands significantly. This state lets Goku fight on par against both Super Saiyan 2 Caulfla and Super Saiyan C-type Kale simultaneously.

Super Saiyan 3
Gokussiiiep281

Goku as a Super Saiyan 3

This form multiples Goku’s base power 400 fold. It’s the strongest form in the original anime/manga. Goku achieved this level after years of training in Other World, where he could put unlimited energy into this form.In this form, his hair reaches down to his thighs and his eye vanish completely while making the forehead and eye ridges larger and more prominent. His muscle mass grows noticeable larger more defined while his eyes gain green irises. His aura also becomes rounder with larger electrical sparks.

Goku first used this form against Innocent Buu during the Majin Buu Saga, where he had slight advantage over the Majin. However, this form is extremely draining in terms of energy due to the living world having less energy to siphon. This made him tire fast and even cut Goku’s time left on Earth from hours to a mere thirty minutes after using this form for a short time. When attempting to gather enough energy to defeat Kid Buu, he was unable to sustain it as he had not taken into account the strain overcoming his living body, and soon reverted to his base state. Altogether, these heavy disadvantages make it impractical to use this form out of the afterlife and even more while alive.

In Dragon Ball Super, this form’s power impressed God of Destruction Beerus, even though it was still not even a remote challenge for the god. Later, due to unlocking divine forms, Goku no longer uses this form for battle due to his higher forms giving significantly more power for less ki. Instead, Goku opting to reserve it for non-serious fights where he needs to test someone like Future Trunks.

Super Saiyan God
God 1

Goku as a Super Saiyan God

Super Saiyan God is a form well-beyond Super Saiyan 3. Goku achieves this form with the help of the five other Saiyans, and uses it against Beerus. Goku’s appearance in this form is slimmer with bright red hair shaped similar to that of his base form, red irises, slightly thinner, and a darker skin tone. His aura generates like an orange flame. The power of this ultimate warrior excites even Beerus, forcing the Destroyer to fight relatively seriously. Despite the incredible power, Goku soon after reverts to base form due to the form’s time limit.

Despite dropping out of Super Saiyan God, Goku retained some of the power, letting him continue fighting Beerus. Through further training Goku learned to properly access and control this residual power, ultimately restoring its full properties access this form at any time. Usage of this form grants heightened recovery powers, enabling Goku to heal and recharge faster and likewise use a small a fraction of the normal stamina and kiconsumption. He can sense godly ki and likewise mask his presence from non-deities. It can also absorb and nullify enemy attacks upon contact. In the manga, this form grants immunity to time manipulation.

God-like Saiyan
Goku (Saiyan Beyond God)

Goku as a God-like Saiyan

After experiencing the power of Super Saiyan God, Goku learned to use the raw might and enhanced senses of this god-like power without transforming. When in this state, while his physical appearance remains unchanged, his ki can be manifested as a pure white aura. At the same time, usage of this power will greatly enhance his Super Saiyan forms, and eventually allowing him to utilize both powers together to enter Super Saiyan Blue.

Super Saiyan Blue
SSGSS Goku DBZ- Resurrection F

Goku as a Super Saiyan Blue

After training with Whis, Goku learned to synchronize Super Saiyan with Super Saiyan God, causing him to become a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, more commonly known as Super Saiyan Blue. This form is identical to Super Saiyan, only with cyanish-blue hair and eyes with a blue aura shaded by some gold. The form’s power is a level that well-surpasses Super Saiyan God and offers increased levels of ki and emotional control. Goku learns to enhance the form’s power through different means, including using the Kaio-ken while in this form, and use intense rage to further power-up the form.

However, while not nearly as prominent as other Super Saiyan forms, Super Saiyan Blue’s peak power can only be maintained for a short period, gradually decreasing in stamina from prolong use. Also, repeated use will reduce this forms power to less than 10% capacity. However, during the Zen Exhibition Match, Goku appeared to overcome the flaw of repeated transforming, as he showed reduced power after fighting two strong foes in quick succession with this form. In the Tournament of Power, despite any stamina flaws still there, this form granted Goku great durability, emerging unharmed after Legendary Super Saiyan Kale threw him about and crushed him in a slab of Kachi Katchin. To make extensive use of Super Saiyan Blue, he learned to instantly and repeatedly switch between his God form and Blue form, allowing him to conserve and more quickly recover the full power of Super Saiyan Blue, letting him fight for much longer periods unhindered.

Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken
SSBKK Goku full

Goku using Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken

Thanks to the Super Saiyan Blue form’s great ki and emotional control, Goku can utilize Kaio-ken alongside it with far less risk. While a power up in the anime, it is a form in video games. In this state, Goku gains a double aura, leaving Goku to appear as a basic Super Saiyan Blue with his blue over while a larger red aura surrounds it. Goku first used this against Hit in the Tournament of Destroyers. While using Kaio-ken levels too extreme for his body to handle, Goku’s blue hair turns a pale blue that is whitish and his skin is illuminated to a light red. In which case, it will gradually damage his body. This unstable state also will give Goku Delayed Onset Ki Disorder, sending Goku’s ki into flux, making him unable to properly access his energy for a few days. By the Tournament of Power, Goku had mastered this technique up to x20 with no instability or strain. During the second fight against Jiren, Goku was able to empowering this state to push himself beyond his previous usage and break his limits.

Goku in Zamasu’s body

In an erased timeline, Zamasu, giving into his hatred of mortals, came to desire Goku’s power, which was considered to rival the Gods of Destruction. Using the Super Dragon Balls, Zamasu swapped bodies with Goku, obtaining all the inherit powers and abilities of the Saiyan. It remains unclear if Goku obtained any of Zamasu’s powers through his Shinjin body as Zamasu seemingly retained his original powers and abilities once becoming Black on top of acquiring Goku’s. Regardless, Goku in Zamasu’s body proved powerless against Black as he effortlessly killed Goku in only base form.

Completed Super Saiyan Blue2

Goku as a Perfected Super Saiyan Blue

In the manga, as the full potential of a Super Saiyan Blue is only usable for the first few minutes before dropping down, Goku manages to overcome this massive stamina flaw to the point where he can use the form for as long and as many times as he wants. Goku achieved this by sealing the massive overflowing power inside himself. Goku first displays his Completed Super Saiyan Blue state against Fused Zamasu, with his power showing a slight advantage over the fused Shinjin, who only survived because of his immortality. This state is not without flaws. First being that this requires intense concentration and focus by the user to prevent any ki from leaking out of their body. Second is that even if the slightest amount of ki, leaking out of the body can be extremely painful for Goku. If too much leaks, it could cause the power to become unstable and explode, killing Goku. During the Tournament of Power, Goku seemingly overcame this flaw, as he was able to perform more advanced maneuvers and techniques without backlash.

Goku using Ultra Instinct -Sign-

A state first attained during the Tournament of Power. Using the Spirit Bomb as a catalyst, Goku broke through his mental shell to unlock a much deeper portion of his potential. In this state, Goku’s might ranks among the most powerful entities in all the multiverse. His hair stands up somewhat, becoming more wild and defined in shape with no loose strands. His eyes become more defined and sterner in shape, while also gaining silver irises. His aura becomes a complex, silvered aura with sparkle appearance. In this state, Goku’s physical, mental, and energy parameters are vastly augmented. He processes information far quicker and efficiently, letting him learn, react, and adapt to all experiences. The highlight of this lets him automatically react to all threats in the most efficient way possible, even without consciously being aware of it. This augmented growth greatly accelerates his natural improvement, constantly imprinting on his experiences to become stronger, faster, and sharper in his actions with every skirmish. Entering this state also energize him and negate all previous wounds as a battered Goku showed against Kefla.

However, usage of this state is random and unstable, only accessible for short periods of time and in the most dire of situations. By his fight against Kefla, while seemingly learning to access this state more willingly, as noted by Whis, Goku’s usage is still incomplete. While his movements have become more refined, he struggles to switch his full attention on to his offense, inhibiting his attacks and techniques. This requires him to take more time to build up energy for an assault to have sufficient power. The effort also appears to drain Goku quicker, returning him to his base form and in an exhausted state.

Ultra Instinct

Goku using the completed Ultra Instinct state

Once understanding Whis’ words behind self-movement, Goku learned to let go of all self-doubt and live in the moment. When fully synchronizing his impulses with his natural drive, Goku can subconsciously unlock the full potential of his offensive and defensive might. This culminates with Goku’s silver glow consuming him. In this state, his hair turns silver and skin tone becomes more ethereal in nature. The power in this form is vastly greater than his initial state of Ultra Instinct that it completely shreds away his shirt and left all the grand deities of the universes in awe at his power. In this state, Goku is shown such fine control of his ki able to calmly repel and contain any energy assault thrown at him. He can unleash barrages of his energy in focused shockwaves and cancel out all but the strongest of attacks.

In this complete Ultra Instinct state, Goku’s power exceeds the realm of might from a God of Destruction. His natural growth is accelerated even more than the initial state and he can also channel his rage to staggering new levels. However, possibly due to Goku’s lack of divine training, this form cannot be maintained for more than a few minutes. After passing the time limit, Goku’s body will give out, leaking out his energy in ravaging manner that will severely injure him as he regresses to base form. At the same time, despite learning to use this state at its fullest, Goku cannot access it at will, but rather only as an instinctual reaction to the most dire of situations.

Super Saiyan: Berserk

Goku as a Super Saiyan: Berserk

During the events of the Prison Planet Saga, Goku obtained to this berserker state when he faced Kanba. He this state further augments his Super Saiyan forms. During which, his skin-tone is tanner and his aura turns darker, consisting of a orange glow surrounded by a dark purple and black regularly accompanied by black electricity sparks in his aura. Also, his pupils disappear, representing his diminished/lack of cognitive thought. It also causes his blasts to become red and black. This form proved powerful enough to knock out Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta and pressure Golden Fifth Form Cooler respectively.

This state of Goku is playable in UVM2.

Kid (GT)

Kid Goku in GT

With the Black Star Dragon Balls, Emperor Pilaf unintentionally wishes Goku back into an eleven-year-old child in the beginning of Dragon Ball GT. While as a kid, he lost most of his power, however is still immensely stronger than when truly a child. At the same time, it inhibited his overall efficiency in battle, making it difficult to properly use more advanced techniques he learned in later years, as his small body wasn’t properly conditioned for them. When using Instant Transmission, he would randomly teleport, and when transforming, he could only maintain it for short periods of time, as he dropped out of Super Saiyan 3 in mere seconds. With Old Kai’s aid, he was able to get his tail back, which not only allowed for easier access to the third Super Saiyan form, but later allowed him to transform into Golden Great Ape and Super Saiyan 4. After Piccolo gives Goku all of his power, he is now able to use more advanced techniques in his child form. At the end of Dragon Ball GT, 100 years after the defeat of the Shadow Dragons, Goku is again seen as an adult. In this state, he is also known as Little Goku.

After being wished into a child, Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan. However, he is unable to maintain the form for as long as he can in his adult body, though still long enough to endure a grueling battle However, after his tail is restored, he became able to maintain the form for as long as he can normally (in his adult body). Additionally, in Dragon Ball GT the multiplier for the form has increased, with Rilldo stating that the form increases Goku’s power by around double (in the dub, he instead states that he powers up a hundredfold). With the later return of Goku’s tail, this and his higher normal Super Saiyan forms would also make the fur of his tail turn yellow when using the said form’s full power.

Goku uses this form as a kid only once, to guard against an attack by General Rilldo. However, he briefly appears in the form while powering up to transform into Super Saiyan 3 while fighting Baby-Vegeta. GT Goku has this form in Dragon Ball Heroes and Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle.

Kid Goku as a Super Saiyan 3

After being wished back into a child, Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan 3. However, he can only maintain the form for mere seconds. Goku noted this problem came from his child body being too underdeveloped. This problem was overcame by help from Old Kai to regrow his tail, which assisting him in conserving his energy reserves. Despite that, this form is still not enough to defeat Baby-Vegeta. However, Old Kai’s backup plan soon happened with Goku discovering his next transformation. After reaching this highest level, Goku stopped using Super Saiyan 3 altogether as his newer form was overall more beneficial with less drawbacks.

Golden Great Ape

GokuGreatApeDBGT

Kid Goku as a Golden Great Ape

Goku achieves this form in Dragon Ball GT, after Old Kai helped Goku to regrow his tail which allowed him to once again transform into a Great Ape. When he looks at the Earth during the Baby Saga, its sufficient substitute Blutz Waves allows Goku to take the said form, and soon after combining the class Great Ape form with his Super Saiyan power to create this new form. While initially as feral and violent as after in this massive state, Goku’s power proved too much for Baby-Vegeta, who previously easily defeated Super Saiyan 3 Goku. In this state Goku can unleash both strong energy blasts and fireballs from his mouth. Eventually, Pan reached Goku’s consciousness, letting him regain his clarity and self-control. Upon doing so, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 4.

Super Saiyan 4

Goku as a Super Saiyan 4

Goku is also referred to as Super Goku 4 in this form as it is not a traditional Super Saiyan forms. This form is achieved by Goku after mastering Golden Great Ape. As noted by Vegeta, Goku’s usage of Super Saiyan 4 is unique, able to access whenever he desires without a bolster, possibly because he naturally regained his tail. Overall, this form’s power can overcome the Black Star Dragon Balls’ power changing Goku into a child, returning him to his true adult self. That however only lasts while in this form. In addition, Goku’s overall appearance changes yet again. His muscles become larger and he grows considerably taller, almost as tall as Piccolo. The hair is even more wild and longer, reaching his mid-back. He gains golden-yellow irises and the pigments around his eyes become lined in red. His tail grows longer and he gains scarlet fur covering from shoulder-to-toe, excluding chest and hands. His clothes change from his childhood garb, leaving him only dressed below the waist (excluding his armbands). His wristbands and stockings turn blue while his sash changes to a stone blue color. The power of this form is vastly greater to Super Saiyan 3 with less drawbacks. Goku is easily able to compete with the strongest of foes in this form.

A special state that is obtained by gathering enough energy to push his body well-past his normal limits. Goku first discovered this state against Baby-Vegeta when his Golden Great Ape form proved too powerful. To battle the mutant Tuffle, Goku acquired the combined energy from Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Pan to unlock his this state. In addition to drastically augmented his might, it also likewise equally enhances his senses, letting him react to practically any threat. He is also shown able to absorb enemy energy attacks, nullifying their damage. This state is symbolized by a radiating red glow from his entire body. In this state he, will surpasses all but the most powerful enemies in Dragon Ball GT.

Bardock is a low-class Saiyan mercenary who leads a small platoon comprised of four other Saiyan soldiers in Bardock – The Father of Goku: Tora, Fasha, Borgos, and Shugesh. His wife Gine was also part of Bardock’s Team at one point. Together, the team makes a living by traveling to various planets where they decimate the defenses of these civilizations and prepare them for Frieza’s Planetary Market. Bardock was famous for his bravery even among the Saiyans; he is mentioned by Paragus in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan when he recognizes Goku as Bardock’s son, and it can be thought that Paragus was Bardock’s superior according to the Supplemental Daizenshuu. After being saved on the battlefield by him several times, Gine developed some feelings for Bardock.Due to her gentle nature, Gine was not cut out for fighting and retired. Her gentle nature has also changed Bardock’s behavior, as Saiyans usually do not demonstrate care for their children but Bardock does. Bardock and Gine already had two sons by the time of the destruction of Planet Vegeta. According to Akira Toriyama, the pair of Bardock and Gine were those rare Saiyans who were joined by a bond other than for reproductive purposes, and in an interview, he says that Bardock himself might have had siblings, but perhaps even Bardock himself does not really know and, at any rate, he probably has no interest in it either.010Bardock with Gine and hisyoungest son, Kakarot
Within moments, the Supernova is set free from Frieza’s fingertip and careens through numerous bystander soldiers en route toward Planet Vegeta; Bardock is among the first of many to be consumed by the ball of energy. As he is incinerated within the Supernova, Bardock has one final vision, that of his son Goku (born Kakarot) challenging and defeating Frieza, which brings a smile to his face. His regret, however, is that he never had a chance to hold his infant son in his arms before his child was commissioned to Earth only days after being born. In the Japanese dub as well as in Dragon Ball Z Kai, however, Bardock tells his son Kakarot to avenge the Saiyans and Planet Vegeta.BardockEndOfHisLife

Father & Sons Team Up

If Bardock is teamed up with Raditz and Goku, a special dialogue is triggered where Raditz tells his brother he better not be the weakling he was, while Goku tells Raditz to cut the big brother act and notes he’s been training really hard since their last battle. Bardock tells both of them to shut up and stop arguing telling them to keep their eyes forward and focus on the enemy.

Great Ape

GreatApeBardock1

Bardock as a Great Ape in Bardock, The Father of Goku

As with all Saiyans with a tail, Bardock can transform into a Great Ape once absorbing enough Blutz Waves either from a natural source such as a full moon or artificially via a Power Ball though as shown during the Legendary Super Saiyan Saga he requires the aid of someone who has knowledge of that technique to create one for like Vegeta. Bardock can remember everything in the transformation state and control it like an Elite Saiyan warrior, but he can not use a clear language and can only growl while transformed due to being a Low-Class Saiyan warrior. Despite the pronounced snout while in this form, Bardock visibly retains his scar while transformed. His control over the form and inability to speak resemble Gohan’s control over the form during the climax of the Vegeta Saga. Bardock’s power level increases ten times his base power level while in Great Ape form.

Super Saiyan

Kisamawa

Super Saiyan Bardock in Episode of Bardock

Bardock achieved this transformation in the Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock special during his fight against Chilled. As a Super Saiyan, Bardock resembles his son. His hair becomes blond and stands up, his eyes turn into a light green, and he acquires a golden aura. His strength, like all Super Saiyans, increases in fifty-fold. He is the second to achieve it while having a tail, but unlike Goku in Dragon Ball GT with all his conventional Super Saiyan forms, his tail does not turn gold while transformed. In this form, Bardock develops a new technique derived from his Final Spirit Cannon (also called Rebellion Trigger), which was used to win his battle against Chilled.

Super Saiyan 2

Super Saiyan 2 Bardock card for Dragon Ball Heroes

Bardock has this form in Dragon Ball Heroes, introduced in the second mission of the Jaaku Mission series (JM2) and in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. In this form, his hair is similar to that of a regular Super Saiyan in most of the cards (however, Xeno Bardock has the corrected hair in-game) but the electrical aura of the transformation are present. In Xenoverse 2, the right bang in his Super Saiyan 2 form is missing. Bardock appears using this form in the manga Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission (with the proper hair) where he joins forces with adult Gotenks, Super Saiyan GT Gohan, Beat, and Super Saiyan 4 Goku. Like his predecessor form, Bardock obtains a more powerful version of the Heat Phalanx, called Final Heat Phalanx. In Xenoverse 2, Bardock acquires the form briefly during his battle with Mira before transforming even further.

Super Saiyan 3

Time Patroller Bardock

Bardock as a Super Saiyan 3

Time Patroller Bardock attains this form in the Dark Demon Realm Saga of Dragon Ball Heroes through Xeno-Evolution, introduced in the third mission of the God Mission series (GDM3). His hair massively grows and reaches his waist, a long bang to the left also appears, similar to Goku. He also gains another new technique called Rebellion Edge, in which for the first time Bardock attacks with swords created by his Ki energy.

Time Patroller Bardock also has this form in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

Super Saiyan 4

SH7-SEC

Bardock attains this form in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, introduced in the seventh mission of the original series (SDBH7). As a characteristic of the form, Bardock gets a reddish fur that covers his body and his hair is nearly identical to that of Goku, having more spikes to its style. While losing his upper-body attire (armor) like all other users of this form, he retains his signature headband. Unlike any other Saiyan, Bardock keeps his tail wrapped on his waist. He also obtains a new technique, called Rebellion Hammer, which is very similar to his Rebellion Fang, only more powerful.

Masked Saiyan

Mysterious Entity... likely Turles or Goku Black.

Bardock as a Time Breaker

Masked Saiyan (仮面のサイヤ人 Kamen no Saiyajin), also referred to as Time Breaker Bardock, is a state taken on by Bardock in Dragon Ball Online after being saved from Frieza’s Supernova and taken control of by Mira. Through unknown methods, Bardock’s power increases exponentially, as he is able to fight many members of the Time Patrol at once (according to Xenoverse 2 Towa modified his body using her scientific expertise to increase his power and these modification are permanent as Bardock retains them after being freed from the Time Breakers’ mind control). Bardock’s appearance changes as such that his eyes become permanently red (while wearing his Time Breaker mask) and he wears a dark Battle Armor with the additional features provided by the Time Breakers. Whilst working for Mira, he also gains a unique mask which is capable of blocking out Blutz Waves, though this effect is negated if it is broken partially or removed completely.

Masked Saiyan as a Great Ape

In Dragon Ball Heroes, Masked Saiyan can transform into his Great Ape form, introduced in the first mission of the God Mission series (GDM1). However, the form became playable in the second mission (GDM2). In the game, Masked Saiyan gains two exclusive techniques: a dark version of Rebellion Trigger, known as Dark Rebellion Trigger, and Power of Darkness (in his Great Ape state).
