The Mandalorian religion was the accumulated spiritual and mythological beliefs of the Mandalorian warrior culture. Like the Mandalorians themselves, their religion saw numerous changes throughout the course of history, with several concepts evolving or falling out of popular practice over time. The ancient Mandalorians and the culture’s Taung founders were intensely devout in their beliefs, forming a deeply religious society. Creation myths such as the Akaanati’kar’oya—the “War of Life and Death”—were viewed literally, and ritual combat was waged in worship of Kad Ha’rangir the destroyer god, who the Mandalorians believed represented change and was opposed by Arasuum, the stagnant sloth-god. This obsession with battle reached its pinnacle when the Mandalorians came to deify war itself, and believed that to wage war was to be divine.

Deities

Arasuum was a deity in the ancient Mandalorian religion. Known as the sloth-god, the Mandalorians viewed Arasuum as the personification of stagnation, who tempted the ancient clans to engage in idle consumption.Opposing Arasuum was the god Kad Ha’rangir, who embodied the universal opportunity for change and growth that destruction created. Mandalorian mythology held that Arasuum and Kad Ha’rangir waged an eternal war against one another.

The Mandalorians who believed in these ancient gods waged ritual warfare as a means of worship toward Kad Ha’rangir, whose ideals they served, taking on the name Mandalorian Crusaders as a reflection of the holiness embodied by the conflict they engaged in.By fighting wars in the destroyer god’s name, the Mandalorians sought to earn Kad Ha’rangir’s favor, and defied the temptations of Arasuum.

Kad Ha’rangir opposed the sloth-god Arasuum—the personification of idleness and stagnation—in a war that spanned eternity.

Over time, worship  of Hod Ha’ran and the other Mandalorian gods, like Kad Ha’rangir the Destroyer and Arasuum the sloth-god, fell into decline. The Mandalorians turned to the singular worship of war itself for a time, before turning their backs on those beliefs as well as the centuries passed. However, Hod Ha’ran and the Mandalorian gods were not completely forgotten: millennia later, Death Watch founder Tor Vizsla spoke of Hod Ha’ran and the ancient gods in a manifesto he prepared,[1] and by 19 BBY, the Mandalorian soldier Kal Skirata knew of their former place in Mandalorian mythology

Mandalorian armor
  1. The wearer was protected from the majority of all blaster fire. Armor made of actual Mandalorian iron, which could also deflect blaster bolts, made it lightsaber-resistant.
  2. The helmets almost always possessed a T-shaped visor and a sophisticated heads-up display (HUD).
  3. Mandalorian warriors decorated their armor to reflect personal accomplishments, clan affiliation, or simply personal preference. They often repainted their armor to reflect rank, clan, and possibly the current terrain. They were also known to paint their armor in the traditional colors that represented specific causes the individual might currently be undertaking. The colors, however, did not always have a specific meaning. Sometimes they were just colors that the particular Mandalorian liked. Some Mandalorians wore pieces of armor to honor relatives, both dead and alive.

I didn’t know Mandalorians developed a type of lightsaber.
We didn’t. This was one of a kind. Legend tells that it was created over a thousand years ago by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian ever inducted into the Jedi Order. After his passing, the Jedi kept the saber in their temple. That was until members of House Vizsla snuck in and liberated it. They used the saber to unify the people and strike down those who would oppose them. One time, they ruled all of Mandalore wielding this blade.

Bo-Katan KryzeThe Mandalorian: Bo-Katan Actress Katee Sackhoff Teases Her Character's Future

Bo-Katan Kryze was a human female who was the leader of the Nite Owls and a lieutenant in Death Watch, a Mandalorian terrorist group, and later during the Imperial Era, became Mand’alor.

Bo-Katan Kryze was a Mandalorian human female who was the leader of the Nite Owls and a lieutenant in Death Watch, a terrorist group, and later during the Imperial Era, became Mand’alor. During the Clone Wars, Kryze’s sister, Satine, ruled as the Duchess of Mandalore, and Kryze sought to undo her pacifistic teachings, believing that Mandalore should take pride in its martial history. After Governor Pre Vizsla of Concordia was publicly exposed as the leader of Death Watch, the splinter group was exiled from the Mandalore system. In 19 BBY, Kryze and Vizsla discovered the Sith Lords Maul and Savage Opress. With the Sith, they plotted to reclaim Mandalore, and through Maul’s planning, united several criminal syndicates to form the Shadow Collective. Launching a takeover of Mandalore, Satine’s rule was overthrown, and Vizsla took control of the planet.

However, Maul challenged Vizsla, and the Sith Lord defeated him, taking the throne and appointing Prime Minister Almec as a puppet leader. Kryze and a group of Mandalorian loyalists refused to recognize Maul’s rule, and they liberated Satine from the royal prison, contacting Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for help. Due to Mandalore’s neutrality, Kenobi was forced to come alone, and he was captured by Maul, who then killed Satine. When Kenobi was brought to the prison, Kryze and her rebels freed the Jedi, and Mandalore was swept into a civil war as Maul’s forces fought to reclaim him. Before Kenobi left the planet, Kryze requested that the Galactic Republic be informed of the events, hoping that a Republic invasion would result in Maul’s death. Less than a year later, Kryze’s desire was fulfilled, and the Republic laid siege to Mandalore, driving Maul from the planet. She then became Lady of House Kryze and Regent of Mandalore. However, she lost her position when she refused to follow the newly appointed Galactic Emperor, Palpatine and Clan Saxon took over.

Satine Kryze was a Mandalorian human female duchess and the pacifistic leader of the New Mandalorians and the planet Mandalore during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Ambitious and powerful, she longed to move Mandalore and its people past its violent warrior history. Her goals mired her in controversy throughout her leadership, facing opposition from conservative terrorist groups such as Death Watch. As the Republic’s stability became threatened by the pan-galactic Clone Wars, Kryze attempted in vain to keep Mandalore out of the conflict, ultimately falling victim to the forces that conspired to take her down.

Early into her rule over Mandalore, Kryze was forced to deal with an insurgency that cost an immense loss of life, leading her to align with the New Mandalorian movement and become a staunch pacifist. Kryze led Mandalore through reconstruction, helping Mandalore rebuild into a peaceful society. Her actions continued to face opposition from insurgent groups, most actively the terrorist group Death Watch, among whose members was Kryze’s sister Bo-Katan. While Mandalore maintained its peace and prospered under Kryze, the Republic began to fracture and entered war with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Kryze chose not to choose a side in the conflict, making sure that Mandalore was neutral and becoming the leader of the Council of Neutral Systems. This move earned Kryze criticism from both the Republic and Confederacy, the latter of whom was backing Death Watch. The war brought to light corruption in many of those Kryze knew, but also brought her and her close friend Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi together to deal with the crises.

As the war raged on, Death Watch became affiliated with the rogue Sith Lord Maul and his apprentice Savage Opress, who brought together several crime families to aid them in defeating Kryze once and for all. Known as the Shadow Collective, Maul led Death Watch leader Pre Vizsla and their militia to Mandalore’s capital, tearing through the streets and causing chaos. Vizsla managed to shift support away from Kryze in order to stop the violence, and a defeated Kryze gave in. Kryze was deposed and arrested, though infighting among Death Watch brought about the death of Vizsla by Maul’s hand as well as the defection of Bo-Katan. Bo-Katan freed Kryze from prison, and the two reconciled in order to find a way to rid Mandalore of Maul. The rescue was short-lived, though before her recapture Kryze was able to contact Kenobi on Coruscant. Maul, having a lust for revenge against Kenobi for an incident from years earlier, murdered the captive Kryze in front of the Jedi. Kryze died in Kenobi’s arms, proclaiming her love for her friend as her government lay in ruin and Mandalore’s era of peace and pacifism ended.

3, Din DjarinStar Wars' Confirms Mandalorian's Homeworld Ahead of Season 2 | Inside the Magic

Din Djarin, commonly known as “the Mandalorian” or “Mando” for short, was a human male Mandalorian who worked as a bounty hunter during the New Republic Era. With his Mandalorian armor and distinctive beskar helmet, Djarin was both well-equipped and enigmatic—a stranger whose past was shrouded in mystery to others. Orphaned during the Republic Era and raised as a foundling by the Children of the Watch, he was trained to become a Mandalorian warrior and eventually joined the Tribe, which operated on Nevarro but was secretly part of the Children of the Watch cult. Djarin became battle-hardened, a man of few words, and a formidable hunter in an increasingly dangerous galaxy.

1 Jango FettJango Fett | StarWars.com

Jango Fett was a human male Mandalorian bounty hunter and the clone template of the Grand Army of the Republic. Known as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy during the final years of the Galactic Republic, Fett was proficient in marksmanship as well as unarmed combat. The Mandalorian armor that he wore featured various weapons and gadgets, including a flamethrower, dual WESTAR-34 blaster pistols, and a jetpack. His personal starship was the Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft Slave I.

From the planet Concord Dawn, Fett was a foundling of the Mandalorians and at one point fought in the Mandalorian Civil Wars before becoming a bounty hunter. Prior to the Clone Wars, the Sith Lord Darth Tyranus hired Fett to serve as the genetic foundation of an army secretly bred on the extragalactic world of Kamino. His DNA spawned millions of clone troopers who shared his face, voice, and were trained to become soldiers. As part of his payment, Fett was given an unaltered clone whom he raised as his son, Boba Fett. In the last days of the Separatist Crisis, Fett was involved in the failed plot to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala on Coruscant. The Jedi Order investigated the incident, forcing Fett to leave the Kaminoan homeworld after he was confronted by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Kenobi tracked Fett to Geonosis where he discovered the bounty hunter’s connection with Count Dooku and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Fett fought against the Jedi assault team during the First Battle of Geonosis, and was killed by Jedi Master Mace Windu in 22 BBY. His legacy survived not only through the millions of clone troopers that formed the backbone of the Republic Military, but also Boba, who became a bounty hunter like his father before him. By the era of the Galactic Empire, Boba possessed the same set of Mandalorian armor worn by Jango, its appearance having been altered significantly.
